CURCUMIN / INGREDIENT RESEARCH

Muscle soreness after hard exercise

Potential benefit studied: Changes in delayed soreness and short-term recovery

Small human trials · Reviewed 9 September 2026

WHAT THE RESEARCH FOUND

Human trials found that curcumin reduced muscle soreness after demanding exercise and improved measures of short-term recovery.

WHO, WHAT & HOW LONG

One crossover trial involved 17 men taking curcumin or placebo around strenuous leg exercise. Another involved 11 professional male football players receiving 500 mg doses after a match, with soreness and jumping ability tracked.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR ROB’S CHOICE

Longevity is positioned for daily inflammation and antioxidant support. Nicol’s small trial used 5,000 mg curcumin daily, compared with Longevity’s final 1,000 mg amount. Different extracts and schedules also matter; the same soreness benefit has not been established for this finished formula.

The doses above describe research, not personal dosing instructions. Ingredient studies do not diagnose symptoms or establish medical suitability. Discuss medicines, existing conditions and treatment decisions with an appropriate healthcare professional.
