CURCUMIN / INGREDIENT RESEARCH

Painful, stiff knees from osteoarthritis

Potential benefit studied: Short-term changes in knee pain and movement

Positive human evidence

Human trials · Reviewed 9 September 2026

WHAT THE RESEARCH FOUND

A placebo-controlled trial found that turmeric extract reduced knee pain over 12 weeks and improved physical function scores.

WHO, WHAT & HOW LONG

A trial enrolled 70 adults with knee osteoarthritis and joint swelling. Participants received two capsules of a specific Curcuma longa extract or placebo daily for 12 weeks, with pain questionnaires and MRI assessments.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR ROB’S CHOICE

The study concerns a turmeric extract, not the finished Longevity formula. Longevity’s final 1,000 mg curcumin amount does not establish equivalent joint-pain relief: the extract, absorption profile and finished combination have not been matched to this trial.

The doses above describe research, not personal dosing instructions. Ingredient studies do not diagnose symptoms or establish medical suitability. Discuss medicines, existing conditions and treatment decisions with an appropriate healthcare professional.
