Joint pain and swelling in rheumatoid arthritis
Potential benefit studied: Changes in joint symptoms and disease-activity scores
Supporting researchA randomized pilot trial reported improved rheumatoid-arthritis disease activity, tender-joint scores and swollen-joint scores with curcumin.
Forty-five adults with active rheumatoid arthritis were assigned to curcumin, diclofenac or their combination in a randomized pilot study. Researchers assessed disease-activity scores and changes in tender and swollen joints.
This is research into a diagnosed autoimmune disease. Longevity was not evaluated, and neither a curcumin amount nor a movement-support purpose establishes its suitability for rheumatoid arthritis or its ability to modify the disease.
The doses above describe research, not personal dosing instructions. Ingredient studies do not diagnose symptoms or establish medical suitability. Discuss medicines, existing conditions and treatment decisions with an appropriate healthcare professional.
